The Olympique de Marseille star is gutted by the recent performances and says that he wants his team to end the season on a high
A strong ending is a necessity for a club that is accustomed to performing well every season and has had a rare rough campaign. Same goes for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127, devoid of a Ligue 1 victory for what seems like eons to fans. A run of 12 games without
a win has been the club’s worst run in almost 50 years and it seems things are not going to change soon.
For http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690, the situation is causing a lot of hurt and the France international knows that the club needs to resolve it as quickly as they can.
Though they won the Coupe de la Ligue, Valbuena feels that winning a trophy and still performing so poorly in the league has dampened all the fun of becoming champions.
Many expected Marseille to come back stronger than before following their final win over Lyon at the Stade de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. However, things haven’t changed one little bit and Didier Deschamps’ men still find it hard to win in the league whether it’s a home game
or an away game.
“It’s hard to live. Since I’ve been at OM, this is the first year that the club is in such a situation. We would like to end this. We thought that the Coupe de la Ligue would boost us but I realise this is not the case.”
Since joining Marseille in 2006, the Frenchman has formed a bond with the club’s fans and says that despite adversities, they have not given up on the team.
“They are very disappointed, but they will always love OM. A team does not become zero overnight. We are ashamed of ourselves.”
Inevitably, Valbuena had to talk about his future at the club. Given that Marseille won’t be in the Champions League next season, the player’s future is also uncertain. However, Valbuena has said that he would want to stay at the club.
“I’m still under contract. When all is well here, we can do what we want. But when all is not good, nothing happens. That’s what makes the charm of this club.”
