Maths : Ratios!!Lets find out whose the expert in ratio!!?

Question

1) A class has 28 learners and the ratio of girls to boys is 4:3. How mays girls are there in the class?

2) To mix a certain colour of paint, Alana combines 5 liters of red paint, 2 liters of blue paint and 2 liters of yellow paint. What is the ratio od red paint to the total amount of paint?

3) In an election with 3 candidates, Bhavani received 120 votes, Akshay received 50 votes and Thorona received 30 votes. What fraction of the total number of votes did joe receuve?

Really?  You can't figure this?  You have bigger problems, but I will help you anyway, because I like having the practice.

1)  4:3 out of 28.  28/7 = 4, so 16:12 is your ratio, with girls comprising the 16.

2)  5:4 is your ratio.  The red paint comprises 55% of the mix.

3)  We do not know who is Joe, from your expanation.  Bhavani had 60%, Akshay had 25%, and Thorona had 15%.

1)   28/7 = 4 sets of 7,      4x4girls/7 students = 16 girls

4*3 = 12 boys

2)  total paint = 5+2+2 = 9 liters  so ratio = 5/9

3)none of the 3 candidates is named joe so 0

but bhavani got 120/200 or 12/20 or 3/5

akshay got 50/200 or 1/4

and Thorona got 30/200 = 3/20

since there are 28 kids and the ratio is 4:3.....

28/(4+3)= 4

So multiply each side of the : by 4 and you get 16:12 so 16 Girls

5 red: 5red+2blue+2yellow

since joe did not recieve any votes he got 0: (120+30+50)

1: The relationship indicates that in a sample of 7 learners, 4 are girls and 3 are boys. Now that would mean girls represent 4/7 th of the class or 28, which is 16. So we are left to assume the remaining 12 are boys. And the ratio 16:12 is consistent with 4:3.

2: The total volume is 9 liters, of which 5 liters of red, so the ratio is 5:9.
