Explain why every prime number, with two exceptions, must be one more or one less than a multiple of 6. What are the two exceptions?

  1. Because all non-prime numbers can be factorized into multiples of 2 and/or 3. So all prime numbers must be either one less or one more than the lowest multiple of 2 &amp; 3, that is 6. The two exceptions are 2 and 3 (obviously!).
