My wife just told me that from next year children from grade 1 to 6 will spend half of their day learning Maths and English. I personally think it is a good thing, How does this compare to curriculums in other countries ?

  1. It is a good thing. But there are some people that just dont "get" Maths and just are not good at maths. I dont think those kids should be forced into that. Rather nuture their other talents. . .

  2. Hopefully they'll get good teachers for that, but I for one think other subjects are just as important, including mother tongues. If the Afrikaans and Zulu's of the world are left out, it might start big fights.

  3. in many cases you can spend the whole day teaching math and you will still not get results..

You can't kick a dead donkey into action.

We have a shortage of engineers etc as most qualified people are leaving the country. Good Luck with that.
