If i wanted to be a maths teacher what A-levels and/or degree would i need. I've seen news articles that suggest you need no experience in maths but i personally find this hard to believe, i've tried to look on the internet but i cannot find any information about the sort of education you would need.

  1. well i was a seconary teacher in the uk and now teach in the us.

i am a math teacher who has bene a head of dept

u have to be able to appeal and teach either elem or middle ofr high school math

the more you ca nteach the greater you hirign ability is,

i did my a levels int hose days in math  physics and chem.

i did a math and education 4 year combinded hons degree with kings college london.

as part of the 3rd year i did my PGCE.

the first 2 years of teachign within the chool you are placed on induction from the government and have to fullfil their requirements to continue to teach.

becuase i can teach anythign i can feel comfortable that i can jump into any classroom- and my employers know it!

if u like calculus  in ale vels then you can teach those classes but u have to be very good at explaining stuff to others

UHAVE TO KNOW MATH INSIDE AND OUT TO TEACH IT.

CAN U EXPLAIN TO SOME ONE  WHY 1/0 IS WHAT IT IS????? u also need to be able to apply yr math to the real world to keep students engaged.  u really do need some real life experience to teach math -  either in a business/ self employed/ even if you are a builder.

    good luck....
