Matias Koski and Jenna Laukkanen shine in Espoo: Finland Long Course Nationals 2011
Matias Koski and Jenna Laukkanen dominated proceedings with their impressive swims on day two of the 2011 Finland Long Course Nationals, at Espoo, Finland, on Thursday, June 30. Koski won his event in the Men’s 100m freestyle, while Jenna Laukkanen secured
the top spot in the Women’s 100m breast-stroke category.
Koski captured the Men’s 100m freestyle meet with a sterling time of 51.49 seconds, whereas, Ari Pekka Liukkonen wound up second in a time of 51.66 seconds. The third place honours went to Severi Allonen with a time of 52.15 seconds. Arttu Pikkala surprisingly
finished eighth in 52.81 seconds.
In the second race, Jenna Laukkanen notched the Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown with a winning time of 1 minute and 11.69 seconds, while Noora Laukkanen earned second place honours with a time of 1 minute and 12.09 seconds. Jasmin Tuovinen rounded out the
top three finishers in 1 minute and 13.32 seconds. Olga Nikitin was placed fourth in 1 minute and 13.44 seconds, while Jessika Stolze finished fifth in 1 minute and 13.58 seconds.
In the third event, Henri Vartiainen captured the Men’s 200m back-stroke title with a triumphant time of 2 minutes and 07.03 seconds, while Valtteri Halonen wound up second in 2 minutes and 08.22 seconds. Third place went to Heikki Luukko in 2 minutes and
08.54 seconds. Eetu Paivarinta wound up fourth in 2 minutes and 14.11 seconds.
Meanwhile, Laura Lajunen took home the Women’s 400m freestyle crown with a victorious time of 4 minutes and 24.28 seconds, while Tiina Lindgren rounded out the top two in 4 minutes and 26.88 seconds. Jenni Ruohoniemi nabbed third spot after touching the
finishing wall in a time of 4 minutes and 27.51 seconds. Jonny Teravainen was placed fourth in 4 minutes and 29.95 seconds.
Additionally, Aleksi Eskelinen grabbed the Men’s 800m freestyle title with a sterling time of 8 minutes and 23.92 seconds, while Anton Dobrzhanskiy earned silver in a time of 8 minutes and 31.51 seconds. Eetu Piiroinen settled for bronze in the respective
meet in 8 minutes and 35.88 seconds.
