The Rosanero defender insists that he wants to leave Palermo for a more ambitious side, which will allow him an opportunity to exhibit his abilities at the European stage.
Matias Silvestre has announced that he wants to leave Palermo, and insists that the disappointing run in the ongoing season has forced him to look for a better club.
The Argentine defender moved to the Aquile from Catania, but his tenure saw the Eagles remain unimpressive amidst three coaching changes, and several directors moving through the club.
Silvestre admitted that he had high expectations when he agreed to move to the Rosanero, but insisted that his tenure at the club has left him wanting more.
The centre-back insisted that he expected Palermo to challenge for the Europa League trophy, but the team was disappointingly knocked out in the early stages of the tournament.
While talking to TMW, the 27-year-old said:
“It’s true, I expected more. When I accepted the move to Palermo, I thought we’d be challenging for the Europa League. Instead, the team was eliminated in the preliminary round. I am certainly regretful on how the season ended.”
The Eagles are currently placed 15th in the Serie A points table, and have managed 43 points in the season, with one match still left to be played.
Silvestre insisted that he is aware that several clubs have voiced their interest in him, and stated that he will love to move to a side that will provide him with an opportunity to play at the European stage.
The centre-back insisted that a move to a quality club will allow him to grow as a player, and maintained that he has the quality to represent any of the top sides in Europe.
“Next season I want to play for an ambitious club that takes part in European competition. I heard talk of many clubs interested in me and I am the right age to take that step up in quality. I want to do that from next year.”
The Aquile defender concluded that while he will prefer to stay in Serie A, he will not stand down a lucrative offer from a club outside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
