Matilda Nygren Strandberg wins Women’s Singles title at Uppsala Junior International 2012
Sweden’s Matilda Nygren Strandberg made her presence felt to the world as she grabbed Women’s Singles title at Uppsala Junior International 2012 on Sunday, March 25, in Sweden.
In the final showdown, Matilda showed her elevated skills and defeated her team-mate Seydi Aktan in an impressive fashion.
Matilda, who played impressive badminton throughout the tournament, continued her positive run in the title match and claimed the crown in a striking manner.
She played with complete control in the final contest and denied her rival to win any set in the battle.
On the other hand, Seydi played well in the start but failed to dictate the pace at any stage in the whole contest and lost it in straight sets in 35 minutes.
In the first set, Matilda played fast badminton but failed to get comfortable lead as her opponent was also playing at the same speed.
They pushed each other in all areas of the court by employing wonderful variations in their strokes and remained close on the score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, both ladies continued playing at same speed and kept the home crowd engaged throughout the first set.
The score was equal at the ending stage of first set when Matilda executed attacking strokes in right areas and won the set with a close 21-19 score on the board.
In the second set, Seydi changed her tactics but failed to dominate the pace as her opponent committed no mistake.
On the other hand, Matilda was quite composed and positive in the opening half of second set and remained successful in taking a remarkable lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Matilda continued her impressive run in the title match and did not drop her speed throughout the concluding half of second set.
In the meanwhile, Seydi dropped her speed and failed to take the bird early as her opponent was keeping the pace of rallies quite high.
Matilda bagged the second set with a considerable ease by an impressive score of 21-10. She won the title match in 35 minutes with an overall margin of 21-19 and 21-10.
