Mating gerbils?

if you have a boy and a girl gerbil put together after the split cage method how long does it take until they mate?

That up to the gerbils it can be minutes to weeks, and the female has to be in heat! (4 to 6 days)

Most time That my gerbil mate are the next day, (of the one that I have seen, Most did it with out me seen

O what to gerbil colours are you breeding?

Well if they seem like they are good friends then you may already have a preganant gerbil.  If you just got these gerbils (as babies) it could take a few weeks or months for them to be mature.  If they are over 3 months old then my bet is that shes already preganant or will be soon.  If she is pregnant you prob wont know untill the day before when she gets more pear shaped.  My gerbil should be having a litter in about a week but i wont know for sure untill the 5th.
