The Borussia Dortmund defender has claimed that his side were lucky to secure three points against Werder Bremen in the last Bundesliga game.
The reigning champions downed Thomas Schaaf’s side 1-0 at home courtesy a goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 in the first-half of the game. The home side claimed their 18th win of the season and still lead the Bundesliga standings
by five points with just eight games to go until the end of the season.
Hummels claimed that the opposition were a great side and gave some tough time to the hosts. He insisted that Dortmund did not play very well in the second-half of the match and wasted some good chances to extend the lead.
The defender stated that there were some mistakes made after the interval which could have led to a comeback from the visitors. He admitted that his team was lucky to end the game with all three points as it could have been a different
situation altogether.
“Bremen have some quality players, in spite of their many absentees. We made too many errors in the second half, and almost handed Werder a way back into the game. We were unlucky with the two efforts that came back off the woodwork,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Hummels’ teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sven-Bender-c34386 added that it is very important for his side to maintain the winning momentum in the remaining games of the season and admitted that the second-half performance was below par. He
stressed that Dortmund cannot afford to drop any points at this stage of the season considering the recent form of Bayern Munich.
“What’s important is that we win our games and pick up three points. We played very well in the first half, but failed to score a second which might have made the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 a bit easier. But I was happy to come on as a sub,” he concluded.
Borussia Dortmund will take on SpVgg Greuther Furth in the semi-final of the German Cup at the Trolli Arena on Tuesday, March 20. Bayern Munich will travel to Borussia Monchengladbach in the other semi-final.
