The Borussia Dortmund centre-back is confident that his side can pull a good result against Manchester City in the upcoming Champions League clash.
The Borussians started off their European campaign with a 1-0 win against Ajax Amsterdam courtesy a goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 in the dying minutes of the game. The German side have been drawn into the ‘Group of Death’ with the
likes of Manchester City, Ajax Amsterdam and Real Madrid and face a difficult task of qualifying for the next phase.
Hummels claimed that the side’s recent league win against Borussia Monchengladbach will give them a lot of confidence ahead of the clash against City in the Champions League. The defending champions downed their league counterparts
with a 5-0 scoreline and were mighty impressive at home.
The German international is looking forward to the European clash against the English giants and is confident of putting an impressive performance in the fixture.
“A win like this certainly gives you more self-confidence for your next game. We have a really tough task to come with City, but we are all looking forward to it. Of course we are going to try and keep our discipline, but also
to take some courage out of today's game,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the defender heaped praise on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733 for his great performance in the game against Gladbach. He admitted that the attacker’s first goal was crucial to the outcome of the game as Dortmund needed the great
start.
“His goal to make it 1-0 definitely got us heading in the right direction. After Marco's goal, we showed a different face again - we were assured on the ball, keen to run with it and, above all, we were commanding,” he concluded.
Borussia Dortmund were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League last season after they finished last in their respective group. They look to make amends this time around, but it will not be an easy task as they will have some great
competition in the group. Beating the likes of Madrid and Manchester City will be a huge task for them.
