Mats Hummels expected to stay with Borussia Dortmund
Director of Sport at German club, Borussia Dortmund, Michael Zorc is keen to tie-up highly acclaimed German centre-back, Mats Hummels to a long-term deal. The 22-year old has a contract that runs until the end of 2013, but Zorc
wants to keep any potential suitors at bay by giving Hummels an extension on his current contract.
The director believes that the board can easily retain the centre-back until 2020 and is hopeful that negotiations will work out for both parties.
Mats was sent out on loan by Bayern Munich to Borussia Dortmund in 2008, which was later transformed into a permanent transfer deal in 2009. After that, Hummels became a regular fixture in the Dortmund side and he went on to play
47 games for the club while scoring 7 goals. His performances with Dortmund prompted German coach Joachim Low to award him his first international call-up.
It is reported in the German media that reigning Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich are already sizing up a bid for the highly rated youngster as soon as his contract expires in 2013, but Zorc is sure that a deal will easily be
negotiated between Hummels and Dortmund.
Zorc insists that he and the board at Borussia Dortmund are not panicking about the rumours that are circulating regarding the defender’s future at Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund are currently in great form in the Bundesliga and have the best defensive record as they have conceded only 10 goals in 17 games so far and are at the top of the standings.

Mats Hummels is a product of the Bayern Munich youth system and after making just one appearance between 2007 and 2008 for the club, he was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund where he got off to a good start and made 25 appearances
before signing a permanent deal with the club.
