Mats Hummels insists Borussia Dortmund are ready for the UEFA Champions League challenge
Borussia Dortmund defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mats-Hummels-c24767 has stated that his side is ready to face any challenge in the UEFA Champions League this season. The player admitted that the club could face the possibility of a tough group this season
with some of the top teams involved but remained confident that the German champions will have a successful time in Europe this time around.
Die Borussen automatically qualified for the group stages of the Champions League this season as they won the Bundesliga in their previous outing. The draw for the group stages is set to be held this Thursday and the Borussians
could end up with a very tough group at the end.
Hummels remained hopeful that his side end up with a great group which could increase their chances of qualifying for the knock-out stages. He admitted that the team is full of confidence and are eager to play in Europe’s elite
club competition this year.
However, he is also confident that the team would perform no matter how tough the group turns out to be eventually. The German international stated that there is a possibility of his side being in the same group as European heavyweights
Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester City and admitted that he would certainly relish that challenge.
“We hope to have a great group where we are challenged but still have a chance to go through. I've read on the website ... a group with Real Madrid, AC Milan and Manchester City would be possible. I would sign up to that right
away!” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Hummels’ teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-Schmelzer-c23530 supported his comments and claimed that Borussia Dortmund fear no team in the competition and will try to put in their best.
“We fear no one. We especially want to be happy, but we will take what comes,” Schmelzer added.
Borussia Dortmund have had a mixed start to the Bundesliga season as they have won two of the three games played and lost one. The champions started with a win against Hamburg, then lost to Hoffenheim and won again last week against
