Matt Adams happy with his Wednesday’s performance against Detroit Tigers - MLB News
The St. Louis Cardinals’ first baseman Matt Adams on Thursday, June 21, expressed joy over the impressive display of game he had against the Detroit Tigers. The encouraging performance has once again brought the focus on him as he had recently witnessed
some slump.
His approach at-bat had got considerable praise as he rallied for the team. The first 34 at-bats saw the player have 13 hits; a record which would certainly merit attention and laudation. But afterwards, some downslide was also witnessed.
That downward slide was to be readjusted accordingly given the troubles it could create for the young player. Thus his hitting coaches John Mabry and Mark McGwire came forward to extend support to the player.
Palpable adjustments have been made now. This could be seen in his Wednesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers. The performance was good enough to at least excite himself. He was to overcome the weakness and vulnerability that the pitchers might have found
in him.
"I felt really good last night," Adams said on Thursday. "I'm just seeing the ball a lot better and felt a lot more comfortable at the plate. I just think I got out of my comfort zone a little bit. It's just tough whenever the pitchers find a weakness in
you. They just hammer you until they see that you're able to make that adjustment."
A quick look at what actually went wrong brings to fore some statistics that could be worrying for any player in the Major League. For example, in his last 48 at-bats, prior to Wednesday’s appearance, he had had just seven hits which was discouraging for
the player and the team.
That is something that the team manager also shed light upon when he was asked about Matt Adams. “It's a trap that happens to almost every young kid when he comes up here," manager Mike Matheny said. "Early on, he was doing a really nice job of sticking
with what he knew was his typical approach.”
But Wednesday’s performance, so it seems, will put things in order once again for Adams and the team.
