Matt Bos named as head coach for IUPUI – Swimming News
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Director of Athletics, Mike Moore, has confirmed that Matt Bos will be the new head Men’s and Women’s swimming and diving coach for IUPUI.
Earlier, Bos was the head swimming & diving coach for Eastern Illinois. He has joined IUPUI to replace Jim Shuck.
Bos, while speaking about the opportunity said, “I am thrilled for this opportunity to lead the swimming and diving programs at IUPUI. There is a lot of potential here considering we compete in one of the finest facilities in the country and there is already
a strong diving program in place.”
He further added that he is immensely enthused with the vision and leadership Mike Moore has for swimming and diving programs and it would be a wonderful opportunity which he is thrilled to be a part of.
Moore said, “I'm pleased that Matt has elected to lead our swimming and diving programs. He is committed to recruiting, retaining and graduating IUPUI champions. I look forward to great things in and out of the pool.”
He worked as a head swimming and diving coach for the Eastern Illinois University for many seasons. He worked as the head swimming coach for San Antonio Wave for three years. He spent a year as the swimming mentor for Swimming Wanganui in New Zealand. He
worked as an assistant coach for Eastern Illinois from 2000 to 2002.
He served as an assistant coach for NCAA Division III School at Trinity University in San Antonio. Bos also worked as a head swimming and diving coach for the Swordfish Swim Team in Skokie, Illinois. To add to his credentials, he also served as a swimming
and diving head coach for the Panthers for 2002 Midwest Classic Championships.
The greatest attribute of Matt Bos is that he is the ASCA Level 4 Certified Coach. He retained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from EIU, as an affiliate of the Panthers Swimming Team from 2000-2002. He was the double Midwest Classic Champion in the breaststroke
swimming events and was elected as the captain for his club in 2000.
His wife Amanda has also been a Division I Swimmer. Being a swimming mentor, he has always remained as a thorough professional and dedicated coach for various swimming and diving associations over the years.
His recent announcement to be the Men’s and Women’s swimming and diving head coach for IUPUI will be a great gesture towards the improvement of the particular club. Bos is an immensely motivated swimmer and diving mentor, who is sure to make improvements
at IUPUI within a short span of time.
