Matt Brown to face Stephen Thompson for UFC 145 in Atlanta – UFC news
Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown is set to fight Stephen Thompson on April’s UFC 145 Event, which will take place in Atlanta.
UFC officials confirmed the news today of the two welterweights going head to head with each other.
Matt Brown, who has 13 wins and 11 losses in MMA and 6 wins and 5 losses in UFC, recently won over Chris Cope on UFC 143. He knocked out Chris to grab a second round win to make his last 3 fight stats 2-1.
Matt Brown and Stephen Thompson will enter the ring in the event being headlined by UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in a battle with former champion Rashad Evans on April 21, 2012, at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
Matt Brown was the eye candy of UFC 143 after his stunning performance. He tried his best to win the ‘Knockout of the Night’ but he could not. The award of Knockout of the Night was given to Thompson, leaving Brown upset.
Brown, on this loss, stated, “The guy he was fighting – no offense to the guy, but I don't think he belonged in there at all. Cope was at least a formidable matchup for me.  If you look at Thompson's kickboxing record and what he's known for – we were backstage
warming up and we were like, 'Whoa, this is not going to go good for this guy unless he's got some mad grappling skills because he definitely wasn't prepared for the striking.”
After his victory, Matt appeared to the media saying that he will not call out his next opponent since that can be upsetting for many. He said he would remain quiet if any questions regarding his next opponent are thrown at him. It has just been weeks and
Brown’s new opponent has been announced.
Fans of Brown should be surprised to know that the Immortal fighter will be entering the ring soon enough in April. While this might not be the ideal fight most fans have been waiting for, it definitely can be among the top fights of the year. If Brown wins
and maintains his domination, he would be the next big thing in UFC.
