Matt Dartnall’s Rockburst Pearl loses to kennelmate Seek The Cash in the Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory – Heat 4
Greyhound trainer, Matt Dartnall landed a victory in the heat 4 of the Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory at Sheffield on 27th March, 2012.
His victory did not go the way he planned it as he told the media that it turned out the “wrong way.”
Over the 480 metre track, two of Dartnall’s runners competed, Seek The Cash and Rockburst Pearl.
Rockburst Pearl was the favourite of the punters and the bookmakers as she entered the race with odds, 8/11F. It was speculated that she will take the victory but the outcome was different.
The daughter of Head Bound, out of Ballyhill Beauty, whelped in May 2010, dominated the race early, getting the punters excited but as the pack closed in, she lost pace.
She was close to home and had the victory in sight but was overtaken by Dartnell’s Seek The Cash.
Seek The Cash, whelped in September 2009 comes from the same bloodline as Rockburst Pearl.
The son of Head Bound, out of Paradise Alanna, claimed victory by finishing a neck before her in 28.32 seconds. He entered the race with odds of 6 to 1 and his victory upset the punters.
The best winning time was acquired by S. Mason’s Bowtime Joey in Heat 5, who tackled the 480 metre with an unmatched speed, finishing in 28.05 seconds.
The son of Westmead Hawk, out of Graigues Echo, entered with odds of 3 to 1 and caused an upset as he defeated race favourite, Meadow Bank Owl by a wide margin of 3 ¾ lengths.
He had odds of 5 to 4 but things were not looking in his favour as he stumbled and lost pace soon as the race began.
Heat 1 was won by race favourite Ministry Millie who is trained by K. Findlay.
This time the race ended as expected as the race favourite, who entered with odds of 7 to 4, defeated Droopys Trump by a margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
The bookies were delighted the daughter of Razldazl Billy, out of Ballymac Floss, as her victory allowed them to cash their bets.
