Matt Fleming is keen to win the Highland Fling of the Insurance XCM series
The final round of the inaugural Real Insurance XCM series is starting on Sunday, 13th November 2011, that will be featuring over 2,000 cyclists. Everyone is eyeing the Sunday results after the tough competition.
The Highland Fling is considered as one of the most prestigious races in the Real Insurance XCM series. It is one of the biggest and the most well known mountain biking contests of Australia.
Riders of all calibre participate in the different races, the 100 Mile Fling, the Full and the Half Fling.
The 100 Mile Fling, as the name states, spreads up to a gruelling distance of 165 kilometres, while the Full Fling stretches over 110 kilometres and the Half Fling is 55 kilometres long.
The final results for the Half XCM Series competitors and Real Insurance XCM Series competitors will be decided after the Sunday’s race.
Rockstar Racing Team’s cyclist, Matt Fleming, is amongst the favourites to win the event. If he succeeds, this will be the first Highland Fling win of his career.
Matt will face competition from Ben Mather of Team Avanti Plus and Dylan Cooper of Team Trek.
The cyclist believes that the race is amongst the toughest enduro races that he has participated in over the past years.
He said, “My form has been a little down of late but I will be firing on the day nonetheless. My goal is to finish in front of Ben Mather and Dylan Cooper and take out the XCM Series, but a win would be a great way to finish off the series”.
Fleming is keen to win the race, as he will be supported by his team mates. He is ready to give his best shot to take the victory for Rockstar Racing Team.
Dylan Cooper on the other hand is having a tough series as he is not fully fit for the race. Cooper became unwell last week, which seriously affected his performance during the race. The cyclist could not practice much because of the chest infection.
Dylan commented, "I've been off the bike with a chest infection and am not too confident about my chances of doing well now, but if I get well in time I'll certainly give it a crack”.
Matt Fleming is the favourite to win the Sunday’s race, especially after Cooper’s critical health conditions. It will be interesting to see who takes on the most esteemed cycling race, as everyone is anxiously waiting for the race on November 13th.
