Matt Garza all set for Opening Day – MLB Update
The Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matt Garza is ready to face new season’s challenges. He was injured during the last Major League Baseball season but now received clearance from the team doctors to throw with full thrust.
He was injured with a right elbow stress reaction but now feels quite healthy to pitch again for his team in the next big event. Though he did not play the whole 2012 MLB season, but still he achieved consistent numbers and impressed many with his brilliant
pitching.
He went with 3.91 ERA along with 5-7 win-loss, 96 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP. Along with a good 2012 season’s performance, Garza also performed with great courage throughout his career. He currently holds a good career ERA of 3.84 along with 57-61 win-loss,
865 strikeouts and 1.29 WHIP.
“If spring training started tomorrow, I would be ready to go, I'm not ready to pitch six innings today, but I will be ready to go when the season starts. I will be ready to go Opening Day, that's guaranteed," Garza said.
This is a healthy sign that Cubs have a talented player like Matt Garza who also possesses large Major League experience. Some say that the Chicago Cubs’ starting rotation will certainly prove a key role in their overall season’s results.
Currently the Cubs have some fine starters including Scott Baker, Scott Feldman, Chris Rusin, Brooks Raley, Jeff Samardzija and Travis Wood.
Scott Feldman played in the last season with great courage and showed good commitment. He went consistent at 5.09 ERA along with 6.11 win loss, 96 strikeouts and 1.38 WHIP. Overall he possesses good career record as well as his seven-year career ERA of 4.81
along with 39-44 win loss, 433 strikeouts and 1.42 WHIP.
Starter Wood has also good career stats while he also showed good commitment in the last Major League Baseball season. Last year, he achieved good stats of 4.27 ERA along with 6-13 win loss, 119 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP. His career stats of 4.22 along with
17-23 win loss, 281 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP also makes him a good starter in the Major League.
