Matt Guerrier on Boston Red Sox Radar

Major League Baseball is thriving in the off season and it’s all because of the free agency as speculation over players has reached a pinnacle high. Ball clubs are looking to sign some of the best stars in both the National and the American League. With
spring training being 2 and half months away, ball clubs have ample time to pick the right flock of players for the roster
The Boston Red Sox are not riding so well into 2011. They have a long list of injuries to deal with and with many problems coming to the fold recently, their future is in doubt. The American League East team has been on the wrong end of the attention in
the off season, thus far.
The team’s leading catcher, Victor Martinez recently shifted sides when his contract ran out in November. He now belongs to the Detroit Tigers and the concerning factor is that the third baseman, Adrian Beltre, will follow his fellow team member out of the
ball club when an offer comes knocking at his door.
One thing is for sure when you analyze the situation in Boston: things need to change fast. One of the biggest problems is a lack of professional experience in formation positions. That is something the roster effectively requires to prosper in the coming
year. While speculation is ripe on who the management will sign in the coming days, there has been one confirmed report on who might come to the squad before the spring training session starts in February.
Matt Guerrier is one exceptional reliever who has been thriving in the Major Leagues lately. The 32 year old, Minnesota Twins bullpen member was successful in holding 23 games in a total of 74. He won 5 fixtures and lost 7 in a total of 74 games. Furthermore
his efforts got him to an earning runs average of 3.17 with 42 strike outs. The ball thrower has a better record than Jacquin Benoit who also signed on to the Tigers.
Benoit isn’t as good as Guerrier but he will be earning $16.5 million over 3 years. That indicates that Matt will probably be looking for a raise when he makes for another club soon. For the Red Sox, the opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time. A
reliever is something the side required for a long time and knowing who this may lay some pressure off the management, Boston can look forward to preparing for the next season.
