Matt Harrison fumbles and allows seven runs to Toronto Blue Jays
Matt Harrison was looking for his first win against the Toronto Blue Jays in his fifth game of the new Major League Baseball season.
The pioneer striker was going in with the hard task to level the field with the Texas Rangers, as they were searching for their first win in the series against the travelling Canadian outfit.
Unfortunately, for the pitcher, things did not go well, as the ball thrower left with an enormous concession rate.
Going into the fixture, Harrison had an earning runs average of 1.88. By the end of the night, it transformed into a 3.69 figure. The ace conceded eight hits and seven runs in his three innings stint on the mound. The player had to be taken off to get his
bad performance out of the bag and the mix.
The pitcher was quiet after the game, unwilling to defend himself in the encounter. He was walking off the field an unhappy man as the Rangers Ballpark looked over the proceedings.
"I guess you could say that", Harrison said. "It's certainly a night I want to forget".
The premier pitcher walked three hitters and 11 of the 18 hitters he faced got to bases. The night proved to be a nightmare for him.
"I made it worse than it should have been", Harrison said. "I should have kept attacking the zone and made them swing the bats rather than walking in runs. I was just missing my spots and not making my pitches".
The player loaded bases with a walk and that is where he lost composure. He conceded the first run and then walked Juan Rivera, after which J. P. Arencibia came in to lead two runs.
"That struck a nerve and really ticked me off", Harrison said. "That should never have happened. That team swings the bat, you really shouldn't walk three guys in that line-up. They're going to swing the bat if you get the ball near the zone. But I started
nibbling".
The real hero for the Blue Jays was Adam Lind, who smashed two homers and drove in five runs.
