Matt Hasselbeck ready to play with broken wrist
Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Matt Hassekbeck won’t let a couple of cracked bones in his left wrist stop him from playing against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday even though he can’t even tie his own
shoes. That honour was given to third-string quarterback J.P. Losman.
“I won't tell you what Charlie [Whitehurst] had to tie, something else,” Hasselbeck joked of the second string quarterback.
Hasselbeck broke the wrist last Sunday in a 36-18 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on a quarterback sneak late in the first half. He went to the locker room for an X-ray, and missed two offensive series
before returning with a brace.
"I was able to play on Sunday with it. I was able to finish the game. The adrenaline of being in a game helps even more," said Hasselbeck. "I can do everything, there's no limitation."
He’ll be wearing another brace this Sunday, and has taken it easy at practice, avoiding snaps and hand-offs.
“The setup that I'm going to be playing with, I think I'll be OK. Honestly, I'm OK,” he said. “It's really not an issue.”
Last week Hasselbeck was 22-for-34 with 333 passing yards and a touchdown. It was his best game of the season so far, and both he and the team hope to build on that against the defending Super Bowl Champions
on Sunday. It won’t be easy against the best pass defence in the league.
"It'll be a challenge and we've got to do it on the road at their place with the crowd noise. So I can't imagine a tougher scenario," Hasselbeck said. "But it's OK. I think we're excited to try."
Hasselbeck has 1744 yards on the season and a 58.1 completion percentage. He’s thrown seven touchdowns, seven interceptions, and has a rating of 75.3.
The ‘Hawks are 5-4 and lead the NFC West over the St. Louis Rams, who are 4-5.
