How likely do you think it is that Matt Holliday will leave the Colorado Rockies in 2009 when his contract is up?

AND

Do you think he should stay with Colorado or sign with another team?

  1. he should get his money. He is a tremendous player.

  2. His agent is Scott Boras and Boras always ask for these way out deals for his clients,so their chances of re-signing him are very slim, thats why he's on the trade block now.

  3. i think that when his contract is up the rockies will want him really bad so they will offer him a contract he cant resist

  4. My thought process is that the Boston Red Sox let go of Manny Ramirez- after this season.

Red Sox will end up signing a Ben Sheets. Then trade either Clay Buchholz or Michael Bowden as part of the package deal to land Matt Holliday.

Red Sox 2009 rotation: Beckett, Dice K, Lester, Sheets and either Buchholz or Bowden.

  5. He SHOULD stay in Colorado, he's built for that park, every where else he's just an above average player, not a baseball god.

But considering his agent is Boras, he'll go to the highest bidder. Early possible candidates include: Red Sox (Manny replacement), Yankees (Matsui/Damon replacement), Angels (Vlad's power for a new age), Mets (mostly because they're in spend-until-we-win mode), Brewers (only if they get desperate and the owners open up the wallet), and Dodgers (because one of these years they'll surprise me and either sign the power hitter or just keep working on the farm). Early front runners for a trade seem to be Angels and Red Sox.

  6. He should become a reliever, then go to the Mets to help them out of that disaster called.....'Bullpen'!

  7. "He SHOULD stay in Colorado, he's built for that park, every where else he's just an above average player, not a baseball god."

He will mash anywhere he goes, you can't tell me Coors is the reason why he has a career average of .321 unless the air somehow improves his contact rate?  '06 and '07 are the only years he played 150+ games and he definitely has 40+ HR pop.  He is almost turning into a 5-tool player, he hits for a stupid high average, he scores runs, he drives in runs, he hits bombs, and this season he's been stealing a lot of bases for a 235lbs manimal.  He is just hitting that magical age of 28, the beast will be unleashed these next few seasons.

And all of this praise is coming from a Dbacks fan who faces this guy and his team in the NL West.

  8. he should go to STL

  9. Well he'll win either way, if he stays he'll be playing in one of the best hitters ballparks. But if he leaves he could go to a team that could compete. I think that he'll leave though.

Here are some teams I think he would sign with:

    Minnesota

    Cleveland

    Texas

    Atlanta

    St.Louis

I also hope he leaves the NL West, Im a Giants fan.
