Matt Kemp shines as Los Angeles Dodgers defeat Milwaukee Brewers 7-1 – MLB Update
Matt Kemp put in a brilliant performance as he hit his first home-run of the current spring season and a two-run hit as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat Milwaukee Brewers 7-1 at Maryvale Baseball Park in Arizona on March 8.
Tony Gwynn, Aaron Miles and Andre Ethier also hit single home-runs for the Dodgers.
Roman Colon smacked out Casey McGehee with the bases loaded to finish the sixth inning. McGehee roared at Colon and Prince Fielder came out of the Brewers dug-out in his team-mates resistance. Both bull-pens, involving many Dodgers’ starters coming up just
outside the left-field spot and were involved in the minor incident.
McGehee and Colon both missed the game after the sixth-inning and they spoke more serenely on their way to the clubhouses. McGehee said that, "He's competitive. I'm competitive. Sometimes people get a little excited. To me it's not a big deal. There's a
lot more important stuff to get upset about than a spring training game."
Casey supposed that he wasn't amazed Fielder, who had left the game earlier in the inning for a pinch-hitter, was so quick to react. Colon wasn't certain about the excitement of McGehee.
To Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke, his team's feedback was a symbol that his communication is getting through.
Speaking to media, Roenicke stated that, "Whether it's spring training or regular season game it means a lot to them. That's what I'm trying to get them to understand. Whenever you go on the field to play a game, they need to be going full out."
"Confidence comes with success," Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said. "Success makes you feel better about your work and it effects everything."
Dodgers’ starter John Ely proved his second prevail by pitching one-hit ball for entire innings. Ex- Dodgers’ right-hander Takashi Saito initiated for the Brewers and permitted Gwynn's homer in his single inning. Saito relied a bit more deeply than usual
on his breaking ball. The team officials recognise his pitches so he had to do a little mix-up as well.
John Ely keeps his best performance for the Brewers. In 2010, he made his career beginning against the Brewers and permitted one run on four strikes in just over six innings. Miles also played three at-bats and had two runs on two hits.
Despite the minor incident that cleared both dug-outs, the Dodgers managed to put in a tremendous effort as they restricted the Brewers’ offence. Milwaukee will be disappointed as they played hard and fought for victory. It will be interesting to see how
the Dodgers manage to carry their confidence and winning momentum into their next match-up.
