Matt Kemp’s double RBIs help Los Angeles Dodgers beat Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5 - MLB Update

Los Angeles Dodgers’ centre-fielder, Matt Kemp had a brilliant day with the bat as he went 1-for-4 with an average of .324 and hit two RBIs including one run in the Dodgers’ 7-5 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, Arizona on September 28.
Dodgers got off to a quick start with a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Juan Rivera hit a sacrifice fly to right-field and Dee Gordon contributed the first run for the Dodgers. In the second inning, Rod Barajas flied out while Jerry Sands and Jamey Carroll
both ground out without scoring runs. Similarly, Chris Young struck-out while Gerardo Parra and Ryan Roberts both ground out at the bottom of the second inning.
In the third, Justin Sellers drove towards deep left-field and Gordon added one run again to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. During the fourth, the batters scored two runs for Los Angeles to raise their lead 4-0. Sands posted a single run when Carroll tripled
to deep right-field. Ted Lilly singled off centre-field and Carroll contributed one run.
At the bottom of the fifth, Diamondbacks’ catcher Henry Blanco walked and Parra moved to second base but Willie Bloomquist struck-out and Roberts flied out without posting any run. Loney hit a solo homer (406 feet) towards right-field to give the Dodgers
a 5-0 lead at the top of the sixth inning.
Dodgers continued to extend their lead and jumped to 7-0 when the batters made two runs in the seventh inning. Kemp hit a two-run homer (386 feet) to left-field and Sellers added the last run for the Diamondbacks. Lilly pitched seven innings for the Dodgers
with an ERA of 3.97 and struck-out five batters. He allowed just one walk and three hits on his 96 pitches.
Diamondbacks blasted five runs at the bottom of the ninth to cut their deficit 7-5 but it was too late to catch the Dodgers. Cole Gillespie struck a solo homer (399 feet) to left-field while Paul Goldschmidt, Collin Cowgill and Roberts each singled to keep
the Diamondbacks alive.
Diamondbacks’ manager, Kirk Gibson said, “It's good to finally know who we're playing. It's the next step, we're going to be ready.”
Blanco homered (413 feet) towards left-centre to complete the five-run campaign for Arizona. As a result, the Dodgers won the three-game series 2-1 after defeating the Diamondbacks in the series decider.
