Matt King is nervous before returning to National Rugby League (NRL)
While talking to the media on December 7, Ex-Warrington Wolves’ leading player, Matt King, has stated that he is nervous on his return to National Rugby League (NRL) with South Sydney.
The player is all set to make his way back to Australia after spending four years at Super League with the Wolves and he is anxious about his comeback. While talking about it, the player himself shared his feelings and said, "I am. Four years is a long time.
I definitely haven't had my feet up in the UK - I had four good seasons with Warrington - but coming back to the NRL is nerve-wracking. It's without doubt the premier rugby league competition in the world and coming to such a great club with a strong history,
nervous is probably a good way to put it."
When the player was asked about his much talked-about come back to New South Wales (NSW), he shared that he would be kidding with himself if he said that he will fill in the centre position because currently his direct competition for the centre position
is with Greg Inglis and Dylan Farrell, who are splendid in their skills. However, he added that his basic goal will be to knock them out of the position in order to confirm his spot at the club, which appears to be a tough struggle.
He further went on and added, "But don't get me wrong - if Ricky Stuart or anyone at the Blues office rang me to say 'we'd like you to play' I'd be in the first taxi over to the SFS or wherever you get your headshots done.”
While sharing his delight over being part of the State of Origin again if the chance presented itself, the player clarified that he was not entirely banking on their recall. However, stating that does not undermine the significance of the time he had spent
with the club in his earlier years.
King is ready to play his opening match with Rabbitohs at Redfern Oval on January 28 against Warrington, who are checking out for their 23-day training camp in Australia. He will feature in game along with England forward Sam Burgess. It is seems that the
player has recovered fully now from the ankle injury he had picked up in April against Canterbury.
It will be interesting to see how well the player does in the NRL games after spending four years at Super League. It appears that his performance will be much improved because he has now experienced the popular rugby league platform for considerable amount
of time. It is quite possible that the player will set his foot strongly into NRL again.
