Matt Kuchar, Paul Casey, Camilo Villegas and Louis Oosthuizen miss the cut at RBC Canadian Open
Matt Kuchar, Paul Casey, Camilo Villegas, Stuart Appleby and Louis Oosthuizen missed the cut at the RBC Canadian Open after failing to meet the score of 4-over-par on Friday. The Professional Golf Association (PGA) event is taking place at the par-70 Shaughnessy
Golf & Country Club in Vancouver, Canada with a purse of $5,200,000 and 500 Fed Ex points.
A huge chunk of top guns were told to pack their bags for home after they failed to meet the half way cut on Friday. The group included leader of the 2010 Fed Ex rankings, Kuchar. The American teed off from the front and bogeyed three back-to-back holes,
starting from the par-3 third. The horrible start brought down Kuchar’s confidence and he wrapped the front with a score of three-over-par.
The veteran stepped into the back, still feeling hurt by his front nine debacle, and carded two more bogies, and one birdie.
Kuchar found it really tough to finding the greens, which is why he hit only 17 Greens in Regulation out of a total of 36 and carded a mind-boggling nine bogeys to miss his second consecutive cut. This is the first time Kuchar has missed consecutive cuts
since 2009.
Meanwhile, the winner of Greenbrier Classic, Appleby also teed-off from the front and dropped three shots at the start, laying the foundation of his disqualification later in the day. The Aussie picked four birdies in between and sealed the day with two
more bogeys, which eventually forced him out of the tournament.
Villegas carded a score of 74 for the second straight day. The Columbian was seen struggling with his long game, which lacked accuracy. He attained a failure rate of fifty percent in driving, a stat that shined on his scorecard. He posted two bogeys and
one double-bogey in the day.
Casey picked only two birdies against three bogeys and one double bogey, whereas, Oosthuizen carded five bogeys against a single birdie in their last 18 holes to compile a score of nine-over-par.
Shaughnessy is known to have the toughest roughs and severely rolling greens, and more than half the field is out of the tournament after failing to cope with the conditions.
