Matt Kuchar is confident to do his best at the RBC Heritage
Matt Kuchar is in the field of the RBC Heritage, desiring to continue his best performance on the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Kuchar played the Masters at his home course, Augusta, last week. He displayed an amazing performance there and shot an 8-under 280 in the four-day major event.
The 33-year-old American professional golf player was tremendous in the field. He gave a tough time to the others and finished tied for the third position on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
"That was my first major really being in contention, really having a shot," Kuchar said. "And I played great on the back nine. It was I think mostly good stuff. I take a lot of good things away from last week".
After impressing the spectators and worldwide fans in Augusta, now the American is playing the PGA Tours’ RBC Heritage.
He is excited to be in the field. He expressed his interest in the Heritage, saying that he has plans to record another top finish in the current year.
“I'm excited to be here,” Kuchar said. “Hilton Head, this tournament, the Heritage is one of my favorite events of the year. I always look forward to this”.
The first round of the tournament is over now. Kuchar displayed an average performance in South Carolina. He shot four birdies and five bogeys in total. He scored a 1-over 72 and finished tied for the 43rd leaderboard position.
He faced tough rivals in the first round and was unable to score under par most of the time. However, he is still confident and is hoping to play well in the upcoming three rounds of the tournament.
"I'm excited about the way I'm playing," he said. "I think I should have a good opportunity come Sunday around here, and hopefully get a different color jacket".
Chad Campbell, Vaughn Taylor and Colt Knost are holding the top position on the leaderboard. They scored a 4-under 67 and competed well for the title.
Kuchar is currently five strokes behind the leading position. If he scores well from the second round, then he can record another impressive finish on Sunday.
