Matt Leinart injury inflicts serious setback to Houston Texans – NFL News
The Houston Texans have suffered a latest injury scare as their key starter Matt Leinart is feared to have been inflicted a season-ending collarbone injury.
Matt Leinart had started for the first time in Texans' game against Jacksonville Jaguars, but left the game with a shoulder injury in the second quarter. He missed the game completely, leaving a big worrying sign for the Texans
despite their win 20-13 over the Jaguars. He was hit by the Jaguars defensive end Jeremy Mincey.
It was Leinart's first game as Matt Schaub's replacement whose participation has become doubtful in the current season due to a foot injury, and he was thrilled to start for the Texans at quarterback position.
His excitement however had ended short when he was forced to be on the sideline because of an injury to his left shoulder, apparently. However, it was revealed later that his injury might be a collarbone and end rest of current
regular season of National Football League (NFL), American football's premier league.
Texans' coach Gary Kubiak told media at the end of the competition that they had performed tests on Leinart's shoulder. However, results of the tests were inconclusive. It was difficult to determine his injury as well as chances
of his return.
"I’m going to hold off (on saying Leinart done for season)," Kubiak said. "We don’t feel good about the X-ray we’re looking at here. We’re going to wait until we get home. … I’m just telling you what I know."
The player had returned to sideline with his arm in a sling. He said that he was not optimistic about his return during current season. He was standing just besides Matt Schaub, as both players watched their teammates playing to
manage a defeat over the Jaguars.
"There's a pretty strong possibility I probably won't be coming back this season," Leinart said. "It's pretty disappointing. It's tough to swallow, but we'll just move forward. Everything that's happened to me, this was a great
opportunity."
Leinart had comparatively made a good start at Matt Schaub's position. He successfully completed 10 out of 13 passes, for total 57 yards. He also managed to score a touchdown. He was hurt during the next possession.
