Matt Mitrione wants Jon Jones next – UFC News
UFC light heavyweight titlist Jon Jones has already heard enough criticism from fans. It has been a nightmare for the champion ever since he declined the showdown against Chael Sonnen, an eleventh-hour attempt by Dana White to save the card.
Many of his admirers have turned into his foes, including the likes of Tito Ortiz and Matt Mitrione. The latter is now looking forward to teach Jones a lesson in the cage.
“Over time he [Jones] went from a pretty cool guy, humble, to as arrogant as I can handle,” said Matt Mitrione.
Mitrione, ‘Ultimate Fighter’ season 10 alumni, is now taking clean sweeps at Jones, calling the champion out for a showdown.
“He seems really disingenuous, blah, not my flavor of a human being. I even told [UFC matchmaker] Joe Silva, if he talks of going to heavyweight, I'd love to welcome Jon Jones to heavyweight. I'd love to try and punch you in the face.”
Earlier this week, Jones revealed that he has done enough for the sport and the organisation and he does not owe anybody anything. He then compared himself with Tito Ortiz, former light heavyweight champion and now a Hall of Famer of UFC, saying that he
does not fight for money like Ortiz.
Jones comments were pretty disrespectful towards Ortiz, at least the latter took it that way. Unfortunately, Jones made yet another enemy of a friend. Ortiz is now on the bandwagon of criticising Jones, calling him selfish.
“Well check it out, the situation happened with 151. He was supposed to fight Chael. Well, actually he was supposed to fight Dan Henderson. He gets hurt the week before the fight, then they say you're going to fight Chael and he said no way and caught a
bunch of flack from it,” said Tito Ortiz, who felt hurt by listening to Jones’ comments.
As of now, Jones is in no position to criticise others, as all of it will only bounce back on him. He should keep a laid back approach and let things calm down, if he wants to save his brand from being taken as a dark one by fans.
