Matt Moore is back as starter for the Panthers
Analysts are predicting the return of Matt Moore as starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Moore was unable to finish last Sunday’s game due to a head injury.
The injury took place during Carolina’s season-opening loss to the New York Giants. Moore was knocked out of the game. He took two hits late in the fourth quarter and he had to be benched. He was replaced by rookie Jimmy Clausen. The final score was 31-18
in favour of the Giants.
After an examination by the team’s medical department the injury was revealed to be a concussion. He was put on the limited list on Monday and there was much speculation as to the date of his return. All questions were answered by Wednesday when he was spotted
already back practising with his team. He was also seen participating in Thursday’s practise.
Coach John Fox says that barring any unforeseen incidents Moore will be starting in this Sunday’s game. The Panthers are facing off against Tampa bay in Carolina’s first home game of the season. Coach Fox told reporters that Moore, “felt a lot better” on
the Monday following the injury.
Moore, a valued player for the team, finished last Sunday’s game with three interceptions and a lost fumble. Despite seemingly weak play Coach Fox is confident he will be ready to start ahead of rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen.
This comes as great news for the Panthers’ franchise who has just added Chris Gamble to the injury report. The starting cornerback, Gamble, injured his ankle earlier this week. Starting defensive end Tyler Brayton is still dealing with his ankle injury.
The Panthers are facing off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday. After a humiliating start last week Carolina is now hoping they can relieve their fans with a home victory.
