Matt Moore sparks as Tampa Bay Rays defeat New York Yankees 15-8 - MLB Update

Tampa Bay Rays’ starting pitcher, Matt Moore had a notable day with the ball as he pitched five innings and struck-out 11 batters with an ERA of 2.89 in the Rays’ 15-8 victory over the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, New York on September 22.
Rays smashed three quick runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Desmond Jennings posted the first run for Tampa Bay when Matt Joyce singled off right-field and B.J. Upton moved to third base. The second run was taken by Upton when Evan Longoria moved
to third base on the error of Yankees’ right-fielder Nick Swisher. Longoria scored the third run when Johnny Damon hit a sacrifice fly to left-field.
Rays continued to increase their lead by taking runs with a continuous interval. In the second inning, Jennings scored one run when Upton tripled to centre-field and Upton posted a single run on the drive of Longoria towards right-field to give the Rays
a 5-0 lead. Rays’ batters again scored a couple of runs in the third inning to get a 7-0 lead. Ben Zobrist struck a two-run homer (385 feet) towards right-field and Damon scored one run.
In the fourth inning, Rays advanced their lead 12-0 by blasting five runs. Upton hit a two-run homer (417 feet) to left-centre and Jennings added a single run. Damon also struck a solo homer (380 feet) towards right-field and Longoria scored one run. Zobrist
contributed fifth run on the drive of Reid Brignac to end the five-run campaign for the Rays.
Upton shined during the fifth as he posted one run when Zobrist hit a sacrifice fly to right-field and Tampa Bay were leading 13-0 at the end of the fifth inning. Yankees opened their scoring account in the sixth inning by taking two runs and reduced their
lead 13-2. Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer (410 feet) to left-centre and Ramiro Pena scored a single run.
Yankees blasted four runs in the seventh inning to further cut their deficit 13-6. Pena, Jones, Eduardo Nunez and Austin Romine each singled to complete a four-run campaign for Yankees. In the eighth inning, Rays added two runs while Yankees also scored
couple of runs to end the game 15-8.
Despite this awesome victory, the Rays lost the four-game series 3-1 against the Yankees at New York.
