Matt Palmer offers positive rotation future as Los Angeles Angels smash Texas Rangers
The Los Angeles Angels were reeling by just one win, behind the American League West leaders, Texas Rangers.
However, the situation changed over night as the club took down the front runners 15-4. Much to the pleasure of their away fans at the Rangers Ballpark, the halos picked up an important victory over their regional rivals. One other important fact to look
into was Matt Palmer.
The pitcher, who made his second for the Angels in the winning game, impressed a lot of supporters at the ballpark with his impressive pitching. The hurler took out one of the best hitting squads in the American League. The ball thrower pitched in six innings
and walked off the mound with an earning runs average of 1.50. He was able to limit his concessions to one walk, one run and three hits.
He struck out three hitters in the process and walked back to the dugout with an important victory. His manager, Mike Scioscia, was impressed and he was able to comment on the ace after the fixture.
"It was a great effort by Matty," Scioscia said. "He had the ball moving on both sides of the plate. He had a little late cut to it, a little late sink. He mixed in some breaking balls, had a good changeup, too, at times. He just pitched tonight and it was
good to see".
For Palmer, the game turned out to be an amazing outing for him, as he faced off against the 2010 American League winners.
"I love going against Texas", Palmer said. "Any time there's competition, the highest level I can get, that's where I want to be".
The pitcher was also working hard in the field, as on one occasion, he took care of Adrian Beltre’s grounder shot with finesse.
"The only thing I had was to go behind my back", Palmer said. "Hey, luck is luck and I'll take it".
Whatever the situation may be, the Angels are looking stronger in the rotation, against the Rangers. While they need to stay consistent, the race to the finish is long from over.
