Matteo Manassero pays tribute to Molinari Brothers – Golf news
The eighteen-year-old European tour champion, Matteo Manassero, paid tribute to the Italians Francesco and Edoardo Molinari for their help in his career until now. The teenage superstar has already won on the European Tour twice and has surely made new records
due to his achievements. Just recently, the Italian celebrated his second win at the Maybank Malaysian Open on his eighteenth birthday.
Manassero said that he really feels privileged to get advice from the top players in the world. This is even better when both the golfers are Ryder Cup players and also belong to the same country as the young Italian.
"It is lucky for me. They have helped me a lot and are both good friends. They helped me settle into this (golfing) life which wasn't easy at the beginning,” said Manassero."We often practice together and they give me help and advice because they have been
playing on tour for five or six years now. So I owe them a lot.”
The Molinari Brothers are very talented golfers and they really made Italy proud when both the siblings played in the 2010 Ryder Cup. They were part of the winning European team as they defeated the Americans at Celtic Manor in Wales last year.
The young player’s win earlier this month has added to the Castello Masters that he won in May last year. The win in the Malaysian Open has hoisted Manassero to the 33rd place in the world rankings. This means that Matteo is eligible for the Major
tournaments and also the world championship tournament. The young player’s next target is the PGA Championship at Wentworth at the end of May. If Matteo wins the championship, he will become the second Italian to ever win the tournament, after Constantino
Rocca.
Manassero said that he was just three years old when Rocca won the championship, so he really doesn’t remember but to follow in his footsteps would surely be an honour. With Francesco Molinari ranked nineteenth in the world and Edoardo ranked 29th,
both the players will be vying for the PGA Championship title as well.
