The other two strikers have netted 17 goals collectively in this campaign and will not let Gomez walk back in the side easily. The form of the duo has caused a concern whether Bayern’s main man will reclaim his starting spot when

However, the former player insisted that Gomez needs to calm down and should only focus on recovering after the surgery. He claimed that Mandzukic has done really well in his absence and has made a strong case for himself. Therefore,
even Pizarro rarely gets a start as the Croatian has cemented his role in the team.
"He must take a back seat because the injury has him thrown back and others have taken advantage," he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Matthaus stated that Gomez has nothing to prove to Bayern. He said coach Jupp Heynckes is a good trainer and will ease the striker into the first-team. He also suggested that Die Bayern have great depth in squad this term.
