Matthew Chan tames Kerrin Harrison in Men’s Singles contest at New Zealand Division 2 Slazenger Cup
New Zealand’s Matthew Chan, who is representing Auckland II, showed his elevated craft in Men’s Singles contest when he easily tamed his country-mate Kerrin Harrison of North Harbour II at the New Zealand Division 2 Slazenger Cup 2012 on Friday, August 10, at Hamilton, New Zealand.
The spirited Matthew, who remained incredible in all of his fights in the championship, played at his best speed against Kerrin and overpowered him in a fabulous fashion without losing any set.
The impressive Matthew was in complete control of rallies as he did not lose his focus throughout the battle and easily finished it off in straight games a spectacular fashion with a huge difference on score board.
The confused Kerrin, on the other hand, was under huge pressure as he failed to respond the powerful strokes of his opponent and remained struggling on court. He could not stop the aggression of Matthew and lost to him without putting up strong resistance.
The in-form Matthew started the opening game in an attacking and positive way as he dictated the pace of rallies with impressive control.
Until the mid-game interval in the opening set, the passionate Matthew remained in commanding position and he took a wonderful lead on the board.
After the mid-game interval, Kerrin tried to reduce the deficit by increasing his speed but he failed to manipulate the loopholes of his rival and remained trailing.
In the meanwhile, Matthew put up staggering show without showing any mercy to his rival and easily ended up the first set with a tremendous 21-14 score on the board.
In the following set, Kerrin tried to take advantage in the starting rallies but he failed to push his rival on back foot.
On the other hand, Matthew played with precision while remaining quick on court and he again set up a huge lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Matthew continued putting up wonderful show as he did not lose his focus and easily ended the second game with a one-sided margin of 21-13.
The lofty Matthew easily finished off this Men’s Singles contest in two sets with a huge 21-14 and 21-13 score on the board.
