Matthew Cooke wins the stage 6 of the Tour De Beauce while Francisco Mancebo continuous his overall dominance
Matthew Cooke of Team Exergy bagged an important victory after his spectacular performance during the stage 3 of the Tour De Beauce 2012.
The cyclist rode brilliantly at the 164 kilometre chase to Megantic and restricted the race favourites.
He crossed the finish line in a quickest time of 4 hours, 12 minutes and 32 seconds and built a lead of 7 seconds over Francisco Mancebo of Team Competitive Racing.
Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling achieved the third spot while Hugo Houle of Team Spidertech p/b C10 finished further 3 seconds behind at the fourth position.
Christopher Butler of Team Champion System, Sebastien Salas of Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies and Marc De Maar of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling claimed the fifth, the sixth and the seventh positions respectively.
Cooke was over the moon after the stage win and thanked his team-mates for their endless support throughout the race.
He cited, “I really just hit it with 2k to go, the pace slowed a little bit and I didn't hesitate".
"I think I can do a good time trial, I don't think I can do a great time trial," Matthew concluded.
The American grabbed 15 important UCI points during the contest and leads the point’s category of the race.
Francisco Mancebo of Team Competitive Cyclist is one point behind at the second spot with Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling and Hugo Houle of Team Spidertech p/b C10 holding the third and the fourth positions respectively.
Nic Hamilton of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada, Matt Higgins of Team Node4 Giordana Racing and Matthew Cooke of Team Exergy succeeded during the first three mountains of the event.
Francesco Mancebo of Team Competitive Cyclist Racing continued his overall dominance, with a top overall spot after the stage 3 classifications.
"It was not a good day for us, but not bad," said Mancebo,
"The rival now will be Sutherland – now he's the favourite. But I'm still in yellow. Tomorrow we'll see".
Matthew Cooke of Team Exergy has now jumped up to the second overall spot after the stage 2 classifications.
Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling, Hugo Houle of Team Spidertech p/b C10 and Sebastien Salas of Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies holds the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
