Matthew Grevers conquers Men’s 100m back-stroke heat – 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Nationals
Day two of the 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Nationals saw the impressive splash of Matthew Grevers of FORDAZ in Paloalto, California, on Wednesday, August 3.
The session of the long course heat conducted the Men’s 100m back-stroke prelims, where Matthew Grevers of FORDAZ grabbed the heat with an inspiring time of 53.96 seconds. In the corresponding race, Ryan Lochte of DBSFL wound up second in 54.00 seconds and
Nicholas Thoman of MACNC settled third in a time of 54.19 seconds.
Eugene Godsoe of MACNC finished fourth in 54.31 seconds, while Kyle Owens of AUBSE rounded out the top five in 54.52 seconds. David Russell of CALPC settled sixth in 54.58 seconds, while Benedict Hesen of UN03FL wound up seventh in 54.61 seconds. David Plummer
of MTKAMIN earned eighth spot in 55.02 seconds. Arkady Vyatchanin grabbed ninth spot in 55.10 seconds and Mitchell Friedemann of SSTYWI finished tenth in 55.13 seconds.
Adam Mania was placed first in the Men’s 100m back-stroke B heat with a winning time of 55.15 seconds. Jacob Pebley of CATOR finished second on the podium in 55.31 seconds, whereas, Ryan Murphy of BSSFL rounded out the top three in 55.43 seconds.
Kohlton Norys of AUBSE settled fourth with a time of 55.48 seconds, while Rexford Tullius of DBSFL snared fifth spot in a time of 55.50 seconds. Andrew Elliott of OSUOH was placed sixth in 55.55 seconds and Patrick Murphy of NBACMD finished seventh in 55.58
seconds. David Nolan of HACMA wound up eighth in 55.71 seconds.
Cory Chitwood of FORDAZ won the Men’s 100m back-stroke C heat with a victorious time of 55.87 seconds, while John Conger of RMSCPV finished second in 55.88 seconds. Matthew Thompson of STANPC settled third in a time of 56.01 seconds.
Timothy Johnson of NACSE earned fourth spot in 56.05 seconds. Max Murphy of AUBSE was placed fifth in 56.07 seconds, while Zachary Mcginnis of HOKIVA settled sixth in a time of 56.25 seconds. Ellis Miller of FORDAZ and Jake Tapp of CAN settled in a tie for
seventh place in a time of 56.45 seconds.
