Matthew Grevers occupies Men’s 50 yards freestyle gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Matthew Grevers of FORDAZ occupied gold medal of the Men’s 50 yards freestyle on day one of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Thursday, November 29.
Grevers lived up to the expectations of his supporters in the 50 yard discipline as he remained prominent for the title from the start. With his invincible efforts in the race, he enjoyed a comfortable lead over his toughest challenger and hit the wall for
the title.
He stayed half a body length ahead of his following swimmer and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 18.88 seconds.
The champion was followed by Davis Tarwater of VOLSSE, who was 0.48 seconds slower from improving his position and posted a time of 19.36 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Pavel Babaev of SWIMFL, who was only 0.08 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking a time of 19.44 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Joao de Lucca of UOFLKY, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 19.61 seconds.
Lucca was traced by Garrett Weber-Gale of TXLAST, who stayed 0.03 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and ended his race in a time of 19.64 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Adam Small of FORDAZ, who was only 0.01 seconds away from upsetting his former finisher and ended his race in a time of 19.65 seconds.
Small was chased by John Wagner of USC-CA, who stayed 0.14 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 19.79 seconds for seventh position.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Jakob Allen of UCD-SN, who was only 0.09 seconds apart and finished his swim in eighth place by posting a time of 19.88 seconds.
In addition, Grevers was extremely happy with his gold claiming effort in the race and stressed that he would try hard to please his fans by accomplishing the same in future.
