Matthew Hatton emerges as winner without standing on the oche
When present in the arena where there is a darts board and glasses of beer, the very first thought that crosses everyone’s mind is that of a darts game.
However, things can change drastically when a boxer like Matthew Hatton lands in the arena.
In a recent appearance he made at the Manchester Arena, the welterweight contender at the McCoy Premier League was welcomed overwhelmingly by whooping 8,000 adoring fans.
With such an unprecedented welcome the boxer had no other option but to sit back and enjoy the showdown that was about to take place between darts players.
In the first week of the Premier League, 14 players battled it out to secure their positions in the upcoming rounds of the event.
Hatton was not alone among the players who illuminated the beauty of the arena. They were joined by other players such as Scott Cardle, who is the recent signing in the Matchroom.
The trio was made with the presence of Manchester City goal keeper Joe Hart.
The presence of all these superstars in an event came as a wonderful treat for the audience present in the arena.
Commenting on the rapturous response obtained by the audience Hatton said, ‘That was a fantastic experience and it’s great to know that Manchester is right behind me’.
He continued, ‘As much as the fight is about the bigger picture in the world welterweight scene, I’m a proud Mancunian and Kell is Sheffield through and through so cross-county bragging rights mean a lot’.
He further added that he is lost for words on the response he got from the audience upon his entrance in the arena.
The prominent boxer also acknowledged that he is a diehard darts fan and he is a regular visitor for Blackpool to view the World Match Darts play.
Some of his favourites among darts include player Phil Taylor who is also known as the ‘people’s champion’ and Raymond van Barneveld.
Some time back, Raymond van Barneveld was seriously considering quitting darts and moving towards his profession of postman.
According to Hatton it is always rejoicing to see players like these to perform at the oche and when they perform well it is like a treat for all.
