Matthew Hatton willing to take on Amir Khan if an opportunity comes his way – Boxing news
The current European Champion and the former Commonwealth and World title challenger, Matthew Hatton, wants to take on the unified International Boxing Federation’s and World Boxing Association’s World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan.
Hatton, who is currently set to face the Belarusian pugilist Andrei Abramenka for the International Boxing Federation’s intercontinental welterweight championship this Friday on August 19, 2011 at the Blackpool’s Tower Circus, knows Khan is going to start
his welterweight career in 2012.
Therefore Hatton, who has won 41 of his 48 professional fights (2 draws), with 16 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is trying to be a potential opponent for Bolton’s finest, Khan.
Khan, who is widely known as King Khan, has won 26 of his 27 professional fights including 18 by the way of a knockout, is considered as one of the best boxers of Britain.
However Hatton, who currently holds the 11th spot in the world and 1st place in the United Kingdom in the welterweight division, told the media he is not afraid of any one and he wants to take on the very
best in the ring.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I would be absolutely up for the Khan fight, although I don't look past any opponent. I am a firm believer in looking at the next fight and use big fights as the motivation to get the job done.”
He added, “I am not afraid to fight the best. I went over to Los Angles and fought Saul Alvarez so if an opportunity arises to take on a great fighter like Amir I would jump at the chance.”
In the end, Hatton also claimed he is best welterweight currently present in the sport of boxing.
“You have to aim for these big fights and I am one of the best welterweights out there right now,” he said.
