http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Hoggard-c1926 All Praises for Abdul Razzaq, after Heroics against Lancashire
The Leicestershire skipper Matthew Hoggard, is highly impressed by the astounding display of hard hitting batting by his side’s overseas player, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. Razzaq, who arrived in England just a day before his side’s big match
against favourites Lancashire in their Friends life Twenty20 fixture which was played at Old Trafford, batted an awesome innings of 62 runs on just 30- deliveries.
Speaking to newsmen, Hoggard while commending the sensational all-rounder said, “He only got off the plane yesterday. He drove five hours that morning to go and get his passport, to drive all the way back - 250 miles each way. He got on the plane, got off
it, then thought, We’ll just hit fours and sixes.”
Chasing a formidable total of 165 runs in 19 overs was always going to be a tough task especially after Leicestershire failed to take-off early in the innings. Nonetheless, in the middle it was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-McDonald-c1042 who helped his side in saving some grace as
he scored 57-runs on 40-balls, however, it was Razzaq who stole the shows by wreaking havoc on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 bowlers as he displayed some ruthless hitting and once again showed his dominance in belligerent smacking of a cricket ball.
Before Razzaq’s arrival on the crease, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 camp had almost given up and the general feeling in the dressing room was sombre. Speaking about the predicament before the Razzaq led victory, Hoggard said, “Halfway through, chasing 10-11 an over,
I thought we might have bitten off a bit more than we can chew, but Abdul Razzaq had other ideas and came in and did some serious hitting.”
Meanwhile, Razzaq while talking to newsmen, after the match stated that it was difficult to see the ball on a foggy evening. He commended the courageous support role which his batting partner Wayne White played in retaining his wicket while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Razzaq-c84421 continued
to play some magnificent shots at the other end.
The all-rounder reckoned that White had the talent in him to become a great all-rounder if groomed properly, Wayne and Razzaq played an unbroken partnership of 66-runs on 28-deliveries which helped their side to come back in the match from a losing position.
Abdul Razzaq, who has been discarded by the national side on the pretext of lack of form, has shown everyone that he still has the killing instinct in him and is still lethal enough to rattle any opposition on a given day.
