As far as keeping his job at Essendon, this will depend on how  well Knights gets on with the administration and supporters at Essendon.Most of them are Masonic Lodge people who scratch each others backs, and have a different way of dealing with ousting a coach.

The Essendon supporters can turn on a coach very quickly, if the coach doesn't rotate the bench the way they like it.

Decades ago Barry Davis walked away from Essendon as a coach, because he had had enough of their petty little torments.

I don't think that Knights has big shoes to fill.

Sheedy wasn't that spectacular, it's the support people at the club, and of course the good players at the time, that can keep a coach in the job.

One coach who is well aware of how this works is Bomber Thompson who would have been a better asset at Essendon than Sheedy or maybe Knights, who at this stage is not tested.

He hasn't done well with all his other coaching jobs.

Yes. He has done a great job so far, and I think he will help devlop the team well.

He doesn't have to do too much to surpass Sheedy's last few years!

Maybe in a few years he might.  He does have big shoes to fill and I think Sheedy was exceptional as a coach for the Bombers.

foresight is a great thing, no one can say with accuracy really, give the bloke a go, we'll all know more after a season.
