Matthew Selt looking for good start of new snooker season – Snooker Update
New snooker season began with the launch of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China. The Englishman Ricky Walden was victorious after beating the winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open from England,
Stuart Bingham by the score line of 10-4.
Right now, the potters from around the world will be heading to the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria, Australia to take part in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament. The competition is the second major ranking snooker tournament featuring
top guns of the game once again. Bingham will be defending the title he won last year beating the Welsh Potting Machine, Mark Williams by the score line of 9-8.
England’s Matthew Selt is also one of the potters who entered the new season with the hope of making an appearance at the baize. The Englishman will be present at the Bendigo Stadium to test his luck against leading names of the game.
In his recent post on World Snooker’s official website, Selt wrote, “Overall I've got to be happy with my start to the season and it is important to get off to a good start, even though there are so many tournaments. I haven't set any particular targets
for the season other than to win as many matches as I can.”
He added, “I believe that my technique is as good as virtually anyone's, and I have recently teamed up with someone to work with on the mental side, which hopefully will be a big help.”
Selt played in the qualifying session of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament but despite trying hard, he was unable to book his place in the televised stages of the event. However, he is hopeful for a positive run in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open.
The Englishman will be facing the defending champion, Stuart Bingham in his opening round clash at the Aussie venue.
It will be exciting to see if Selt can make a positive impact during the tournament. Bingham will also be looking to put in a good performance and build up some much needed confidence having lost to Walden earlier in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament.
