Matthew Stevens aims to come back strong in 2012-13 Snooker Season – Snooker News
Recently finished 2012 World Snooker Championship featured a couple outstanding talents during its campaign at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The snooker fans across the World witnessed impressive performances from Belgium’s Luca Brecel, England’s David
Gilbert, China’s Cao Yupeng, Liang Wenbo and Matthew Stevens of Wales.
All these cuemen showed their class at the Crucible arena making their appearance felt to the spectators. Stevens proved his class in the Championship and made his way successfully into the semi-final stage.
Stevens wanted Ronnie O’Sullivan to quit from World Snooker because it might get tough for him next season as he is planning to go into the next calendar with new objectives and ambitions.
While speaking to the local media, Stevens said, “I have had a good couple of weeks after a tough few years. I feel as if I am playing well again and I will be back next year fighting. Obviously I am disappointed to lose in the semi-final but Ronnie O'Sullivan,
when he's on song, is the best player in the world and tough to play against.”
The Welshman added, “I hope he does retire. I can't see him doing it, but you never know with Ronnie. But I think he loves the game too much — he loves the buzz out there, no matter what he says. But if he does go, then it's good for all the other players.”
Welshman Matthew Stevens was specifically focused on his game during the 2012 World Snooker Championship campaign and displayed convincing snooker skills to reach the semi-final clash if the mega event where he was ousted by the eventual World Snooker Champion,
England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan.
He gave a tough time to the veteran potter in the first two sessions but tumbled down in the final sessions and lost the semi-final game by the score of 17-10.
The Welsh Dragon’s season campaign was not so good for he was noticeable to win any major ranking snooker tournament. However, he did play impressively in the Premier League Snooker (PLS) Event 1 and clinched a noticeable victory after beating the former
four-time World Snooker Champion, Scotland’s John Higgins.
