Matthew Swanston and Brent Hayden nab titles in Montreal - 2011 Canada Cup
Day three of the 2011 Canada Cup ended with the impressive performances of Matthew Swanton and Brent Hayden in their respective events at Montreal, Canada, on Sunday, July 3.
Swanston won the Men’s 50m back-stroke race with a winning time of 26.64 seconds. Matt Patton wound up second in a time of 26.67 seconds, while Jeffrey Swanston earned third place honours in 27.10 seconds.
The Men’s 50m freestyle race was secured by Brent Hayden, who touched the finishing wall in a triumphant time of 22.59 seconds. Bobby Savulich captured second spot in 23.18 seconds, whereas, Miguel Ortiz rounded out the top three in 23.27 seconds.
Gabrielle Soucisse took home the Women's 50m back-stroke title with a time of 29.77 seconds, while Virginia Glover was placed second in 30.10 seconds. The bronze medal went to Jennifer Beckberger in 30.13 seconds.
Scott Dickens topped the Men’s 200m breast-stroke race with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 15.70 seconds, whereas, Ashton Baumann wound up second in 2 minutes and 17.83 seconds. Warren Barnes rounded out the top three swimmers in a time of 2 minutes
and 18.14 seconds.
In the Women’s 200m breast-stroke event, Ashley McGregor earned first place honours with a time of 2 minutes and 31.29 seconds, while Tera Van Beilen settled for the silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 31.38 seconds. Haylee Johnson captured bronze in
2 minutes and 33.57 seconds.

Ann Fittin grabbed the Women's 50m freestyle meet with a winning time of 25.61 seconds, whereas, Victoria Poon wound up second in 25.65 seconds. The third place on the podium went to Sandrine Mainville in 25.86 seconds.
The Men’s 400m medley relay crown was taken over by Pascal-Hugo Cantin, Eric Cantin, Benjamin Le Maguet and Adam Szoo with a triumphant time of 3 minutes and 56.02 seconds.
In the Women’s corner, the same event was captured by Samantha Cheverton, Caroline Kuczynski, Ashley McGregor and Alyson Ackman in a winning time of 4 minutes and 13.76 seconds.
