Matthew Targett acquires Men’s 50m butterfly gold: Day three – 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim
Matthew Targett of Australia acquired gold medal of the Men’s 50m butterfly on day three of the 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte on Saturday, May 12.
The 26-year-old Targett demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the single lap butterfly event and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal.
With his alluring efforts, Targett outsmarted his opponents over the finishing end for gold medal as he clocked a time of 23.11 seconds for gold medal.
With his invincible efforts, he remained 0.78 seconds faster from Eugene Godsoe of SwimMAC Carolina, who sprinted his way towards the finishing end for silver medal by hitting the wall with the timing of 23.89 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by his teammate, Cullen Jones, who remained just 0.29 seconds slower and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by submitting a time of 24.18 seconds.
Jones was trailed by his team-member, Tim Phillips, who remained just 0.06 seconds apart and secured fourth position of the event by clocking a time of 24.24 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was obtained by Brett Fraser of Gator Swim Club, who was only 0.08 seconds behind and tapped the finishing blockade with the timing of 24.32 seconds.
In the meantime, the audience witnessed exhausting efforts of Josh Schneider of SwimMAC Carolina, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and secured sixth best spot of the race by submitting a time of 24.49 seconds.
The 24-year-old Schneider was chased by Tyler McGill of Una NYAC-MR, who suffered a deficit of 0.30 seconds from his former finisher and reported an effort of 24.79 seconds for seventh position.
Finally, the last spot of the race was obtained by Karl Botha of Una HOKI-VA, who was almost half a body length slower from his former finisher and settled on the finishing blockade as eighth position holder with the timing of 25.19 seconds.
In addition, Targett was overjoyed with his gold-claiming effort in the single lap butterfly discipline whereas the position holders collected medals for their wonderful efforts after the session.
