Matthew Targett captures Men’s 50m butterfly gold: Day one – 2012 Paris Open

Matthew Targett of Australia captured gold medal of the Men’s 50m butterfly on initial day of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Friday, July 6.
The Australian swimmer demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the single lap butterfly event and faced no trouble in occupying gold medal of the discipline.
With his unrelenting efforts, he stayed just a touch ahead of his closest competitor and tapped the finishing wall for gold medal with the timing of 23.51 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Frederick Bousquet of France, who remained just 0.01 seconds slower from upsetting the gold medallist and snatched silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 23.52 seconds.
The second position holder remained one stroke faster from his following swimmer, Steffen Deibler of Germany, who stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by submitting a time of 23.79 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Jason Dunford of Kenya, who stayed 0.09 seconds apart and sprinted his way towards the finishing end with an effort of 23.88 seconds.
Subsequently, Dunford was chased by Evgeny Korotyshkin of Russia, who was 0.06 seconds away and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 23.94 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed laudable efforts of Camille Muffat in the Women’s 200m freestyle playoff. Muffat, who recently dominated the preliminary rounds of 800m freestyle, went full rampant in the 200m discipline and seized gold medal of the
discipline with an effort of 1 minute and 56.21 seconds.
Her title claiming effort remained three body lengths ahead of Patricia Castro Ortega of Spain, who accomplished silver medal of the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 59.34 seconds.
Similarly, Ortega was trailed by Silke Lippok of Germany, who proved her mettle for bronze medal of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 59.59 seconds.
The third position holder was trailed by Charlotte Bonnet of France, who finished fourth in the discipline with the timing of 1 minute and 59.83 seconds.
In addition, Targett and Muffat were contented with their performances just few days before the commencement of 2012 London Olympic Games.
