Matthew Targett seizes Men’s 50m freestyle gold: Day two – 2012 Paris Open

Australian freestyle expert, Matthew Targett seized gold medal of the Men’s 50m freestyle on day two of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Saturday, July 7.
Targett, who dominated the Men’s 50m butterfly on primary day of the championship, astonished the crowd by adding another gold medal to his tally.
Targett managed to out-touch his strongest challenger over the finishing wall for gold medal as he tapped the wall with the timing of 22.14 seconds.
The gold medallist remained only 0.01 seconds faster from Florent Manaudou of France, who tapped the finishing end for second position by producing a time of 22.15 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Frederick Bousquet of France, who remained 0.07 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 22.22 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Alain Bernard of France, who stayed just 0.06 seconds slower from surpassing his former finisher and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with the timing of 22.28 seconds.
Bernard was chased by Amaury Leveaux of France, who stayed 0.10 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 22.38 seconds.
In the meantime, Germany’s Sarah Poewe snared gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke. Poewe overpowered her strongest challenger over the finishing end as she tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 28.75 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Nadja Higl of Serbia, who occupied silver medal of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 28.84 seconds.
Higl was chased by Sara El Bekri of Morocco, who stayed half body length behind and reported a time of 2 minutes and 29.48 seconds for bronze medal.
The bronze medallist was chased by f***y Babou of France, who remained 0.78 seconds away from her former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 30.26 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Michela Guzzetti of Italy, who clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 31.10 seconds.
Targett was contented with his achievement in the shortest freestyle discipline and said that he will try to excel at the upcoming events.
