Matthew Wade is a quick-learner, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 – Cricket News Update
Impressed by the wicketkeeper/batsman’s ability to learn quickly, Mickey Arthur, the coach of the Australian side, is expecting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 to have a great future ahead of him.
Since making his first-class debut in 2007, the 24-year-old cricketer has been doing brilliantly in Sheffield Shield cricket. After playing his entire junior cricket for his native state, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854, the wicketkeeper moved to Victoria
in search of a better first-class career.
The talented youngster made his way to international cricket last year, after some inconsistent performances by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TD-Paine-c2652. Since then, Wade has played in different conditions and has learnt a lot by facing high-class
bowling line-ups.
In the recently-concluded limited-over series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), the left-hander managed to score just 39 runs in the three One Day Internationals (ODIs), struggling to cope with high-quality spinners like
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482.
Same was the case in Caribbean earlier this year when the wicketkeeper had a tough time facing Sunil Narine, the young mystery spinner. However, the Hobart-born player impressed his coach during a fighting Test century in the third
Test at Dominica.
"We saw Wadey in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869," Arthur
said. "But he worked it out and at the end of the series he got a really good hundred.”
Wade has so far represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in three Tests, 25 ODIs and 15 T20 Internationals, scoring almost a thousand runs with reasonable batting averages in all the three formats. He has also notched up five half-centuries in the limited-over
sport.
Arthur revealed that the budding cricketer is extremely passionate about his game and wants to enhance his skills all the time, which is a quality possessed by every good international player.
The mentor added, “He learns very quickly. He's like a little kid, he comes and he fights it and he moans and whinges and gets frustrated, but he works hard, learns quick and hopefully he gets the rewards."
